DESCRIPTION:What happens when a call goes to Fish & Wildlife regarding a conflict with a grizzly bear? \n\n\n\nThis presentation will cover the response procedures\, outlining all the steps taken when dealing with bear / human conflict. Paul Frame will discuss the Grizzly Bear Responder Program and Mike Ewald will outline the process for investigating and responding to a bear mauling. \n\n\n\nLocation: Cardel Theatre: 180 Quarry Park Blvd\, Calgary \n\n\n\nTime: 7:00 – 8:30pm \n\n\n\nDate: April 7\, 2026 \n\n\n\nSocial: Original Joe’s: 1009-163 Quarry Park Blvd. Following the presentation from 8:30 – 11:00pm. Right across the street from the Cardel Theatre. \n\n\n\n Presenters: Mike Ewald started his career with Fish and Wildlife in Canmore in the summer of 1989.  He became a Regional Problem Wildlife Specialist in 2013\, and then the Provincial Problem Wildlife Specialist in 2021. He has worked primarily in high problem wildlife areas of the province\, providing him experience in a vast number of different scenarios dealing with human/wildlife conflict. This includes responding to attacks on humans.  Mike has been married for 38 years\, has 5 adult children\, and 12 grandchildren.  \n\n\n\nPaul Frame: \n\n\n\nPaul Frame has been studying and managing large carnivores for 25 years. He as worked with wolves\, bears and cougars in various jurisdictions in North America. He as been the Provincial Carnivore Specialist for Alberta since 2014.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on an African safari hunt? Join us at our next club meeting on Wednesday\, April 22 for an evening presentation from ODFGA members Don and Shawn\, who were fortunate enough to win African safari trips through our annual banquet and fundraiser. They will be sharing photos and stories from their adventures and giving members and guests a firsthand look at what the experience was like. \n\n\n\nWe will also be recapping some of our recent club activities\, including Horn Scoring\, Kids Can Catch\, and early plans for this year’s banquet and fundraiser. It should be an interesting and enjoyable evening\, so come on out and bring a friend. \n\n\n\nThe meeting will be held at the Crystal Shores Beach House\, 403 Milligan Drive in Okotoks. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.\, and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nRecent club coverage on the website confirms both the Horn Scoring Afternoon and the 2026 Kids Can Catch event as current club highlights.
