Okotoks Family Day Ice Fishing

Join the Okotoks and District Fish and Game Association (ODFGA) for Family Day Ice Fishing at Kids Can Catch at Chain Lakes Reservoir. This all-ages event is open to the public to come out and try their hand at ice fishing. Bring your own fishing rods if you have one! We have some you can borrow. Out on the reservoir, you will find pre-drilled holes, fishing mentors, and more!
Date: February 14, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Place: Chain Lakes Provincial Park: Hwy 22 & Hwy 533
Directions: From Calgary/Okotoks drive south on Hwy 2 to Nanton, then turn west on Hwy 533. Cross Hwy 22 and drive west into Chain Lakes Provincial park.
Parking: First large parking lot at the boat launch on the left.
Cost: Free. RSVP required to hold your spot.

· This event is free but registration is required
· Follow signage, stop by white canvas tent for registration, refreshments, and gear
· Bring your own fishing rod (if you have one)
· Fishing rods will be available to borrow
· Fishing mentors on hand to help new anglers
· Information available on fishing and conservation
· Bring a lawn chair, food, drinks, and dress warmly
· Free hot chocolate, coffee, and $1 hot dogs (cash only) available while supplies last
· Giveaways for youth
· Wheelchair, stroller, and wagon access is not guaranteed due to snow cover on the ice

· This event takes place on Alberta’s Family Fishing Weekend, so no fishing licences are required. Alberta Sportfishing Regulations still apply.
